At the United Nations General Assembly, U.S. President Donald Trump delivered a fiery speech that touched on Gaza, climate change, Russia’s war in Ukraine, India-Pakistan tensions, and the role of the UN itself. His address drew both support and criticism for its strong language and sweeping claims.

Trump opened with a demand for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, where Israel’s military campaign has killed tens of thousands of Palestinians. He insisted that hostages must be released and accused Hamas of blocking peace efforts, while dismissing recent moves by Western nations to recognize a Palestinian state as a “reward” for terrorism.

On climate change, Trump repeated his long-standing denial of global warming, calling it “the greatest con job ever perpetrated on the world.” He argued that clean energy policies were destroying economies and praised countries returning to fossil fuels and nuclear power. His remarks came at a time when the UN has been warning of worsening climate-driven disasters.

Turning to Ukraine, Trump said Russia’s war had backfired badly, claiming Moscow expected a quick victory that never came. He criticized Europe for continuing to buy Russian energy and accused China and India of indirectly supporting Moscow by maintaining imports.

Trump also claimed credit for preventing major conflicts during his presidency, including what he described as a near-war between India and Pakistan. He listed several other disputes he said his diplomacy helped resolve, without offering specific details.

The U.S. president did not hold back against the UN itself, questioning its effectiveness and mocking its inability to act decisively. He recalled offering to rebuild the UN headquarters for $500 million, saying the organization instead wasted money on a poorly managed project.

Trump also warned Venezuela’s Nicolás Maduro and drug trafficking groups that U.S. military power would “blow you out of existence.” On Iran, he claimed he had offered cooperation if Tehran ended its nuclear ambitions, but said the proposal was rejected.

He criticized global migration policies, accusing the UN and IOM of enabling mass migration through aid programs, which he said were “destroying countries.”

Ending his address, Trump painted himself as a peacemaker, suggesting his actions made him deserving of a Nobel Peace Prize. He described America under his leadership as entering a “Golden Age,” contrasting it with what he called failures under Joe Biden.
