President Donald Trump has confirmed that the United States is preparing to restart nuclear testing after more than three decades, while also considering a major F-35 fighter jet sale to Saudi Arabia. He further announced plans to take legal action against the BBC over a disputed documentary aired before the 2024 U.S. election.

Speaking to reporters on Air Force One, Trump said the U.S. will resume nuclear testing “like other countries,” but did not clarify if this would include an actual nuclear detonation. His statement follows a directive he issued last month, ordering the immediate revival of U.S. nuclear testing. The announcement was made on Truth Social during his trip to South Korea for a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

On defense ties with Saudi Arabia, Trump confirmed that Riyadh is looking to purchase a large fleet of F-35 stealth fighter jets from Lockheed Martin. He noted that discussions on the potential deal will likely take place during the upcoming White House meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The visit is expected to include talks on major defense and economic agreements.
However, a Pentagon intelligence assessment has reportedly warned that such a sale could risk advanced F-35 technology reaching China, a concern highlighted in a recent New York Times report.

Trump also addressed his dispute with the BBC, saying he intends to sue the broadcaster next week. The controversy centers around a “Panorama” documentary that edited segments of his January 6, 2021, speech in a way that Trump claims falsely suggested he incited violence.
Although the BBC apologized for what it called an “error of judgment,” it maintains that there is no basis for a defamation claim. Trump’s legal team has demanded a full retraction, compensation, and a formal apology, warning of potential damages reaching up to $1 billion.

The developments come as Trump continues shaping U.S. foreign policy and defense strategy ahead of key meetings and negotiations in the coming days.
