President Donald Trump will attend a high-profile meeting of America’s top military commanders in Quantico, Virginia, on Tuesday. The event, hosted at Marine Corps University, will bring together dozens of senior generals and admirals from across the world, making it one of the rarest gatherings of US military leadership.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth called the meeting, which will include commanders based in South Korea, Japan, and the Middle East. Officials say the cost of transporting and protecting so many senior leaders could reach millions of dollars.

Speaking ahead of the event, Trump told Reuters that his message to the military would be simple but strong. “I want to tell the generals that we love them, they’re cherished leaders, to be strong, be tough, be smart, and be compassionate,” he said. He added that the gathering would boost “esprit de corps,” saying it was long overdue.

While Trump’s appearance is expected to gain global attention, Hegseth will also deliver remarks highlighting the importance of a “warrior ethos” in the US armed forces. Since taking over the Pentagon, Hegseth has made major changes, including removing senior generals and pushing back against diversity programs he argues are harmful to the military.

Earlier this month, Trump signed an executive order to restore the Pentagon’s original name, the Department of War, a title that was changed after World War II. The move reflects his administration’s strong focus on military readiness and combat strength.

The Quantico meeting will not only demonstrate Trump’s close ties with the military but also signal a renewed emphasis on toughness, discipline, and unity within America’s armed forces.
