Türkiye and China have issued strong diplomatic responses following a recent surge in military tensions between India and Pakistan. Both countries condemned what they described as unprovoked Indian aggression against Pakistani territory and called for restraint to prevent further escalation in South Asia.
In a significant diplomatic move, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan contacted Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar to express deep concern over India’s missile and artillery strikes. Türkiye reaffirmed its full support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, while emphasizing the importance of regional stability. The conversation underscored Türkiye’s commitment to maintaining close communication with Pakistan amid the crisis.

The Turkish stance was further reinforced by an emergency meeting between the Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan and Deputy Prime Minister Dar. The ambassador offered condolences for civilian casualties and condemned the Indian attacks. Türkiye’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a formal statement urging both India and Pakistan to de-escalate tensions and return to diplomatic dialogue, warning that continued hostilities could jeopardize peace across the region.
China also joined Türkiye in expressing concern over the conflict. The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs characterized the Indian strikes as regrettable and called for calm on both sides. A ministry spokesperson emphasized the need for peaceful dialogue and warned against actions that could intensify the conflict. China highlighted its longstanding support for regional stability and encouraged both nations to prioritize diplomacy.
These diplomatic reactions came after Pakistan reported downing multiple Indian fighter jets, including advanced Rafale and Sukhoi aircraft, in response to what it claimed were violations of its airspace. Pakistan reiterated its commitment to peace while reserving the right to respond to any acts of aggression.
As tensions escalate along the Line of Control, Türkiye and China’s appeals for restraint reflect growing international concern over the risk of a broader conflict in South Asia. The calls for de-escalation and dialogue underline the urgent need for a peaceful resolution to the crisis between the nuclear-armed neighbors.
