Health officials at the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) confirmed that the affected children are from Tank district and North Waziristan. They called the situation “alarming,” warning that the virus continues to spread in high-risk areas. Southern KP remains the hardest-hit region, making eradication efforts more challenging.
To fight the outbreak, a nationwide anti-polio vaccination drive will begin next month. Authorities are urging parents to make sure every child under the age of five receives the drops to help stop the virus from spreading.
This comes after a five-month-old child in Lakki Marwat’s Suleman Khel union council tested positive for polio earlier this month.
With the two new cases, Pakistan’s total for 2025 has risen to 23, raising concerns that the country’s decades-long struggle to eliminate polio could face a serious setback.
