Two Jewish Israeli citizens have been detained by Israeli police and Shin Bet, the country’s domestic security agency, on suspicion of spying for Iran.
The arrests occurred during a nighttime raid in Yamam by the Border Police’s elite counter-terrorism squad, according to Israeli media, which cited Shin Bet and police spokespersons. The two individuals are charged with conducting espionage on Iran’s behalf.
Shin Bet stated in a statement that it has seen attempts by the enemy to use information gathered from Israeli civilians to harm the country amid the continuing, aggressive fight against Iran. Attacks that target critical locations and densely populated areas are the result of these efforts.
