UAF’s Genome Center to Work for Food Security
Faisalabad: Recently, Punjab Agriculture Minister Syed Hussain Jahanian Gardezi opened the University Of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) Centre for Genome Editing for Nutrition and Health.

This facility was established with a budget of Rs 1,799 million to promote food security and agricultural growth.
In addition to inaugurating the Precision Agriculture Lab, the minister presented 25 laptops to individuals with special needs and 30 Kissan cards to farmers.
The minister stated that the government has earmarked Rs31.49 billion for agriculture in the development budget for the fiscal year 2021-22, an increase of 100 percent from the previous year, in order to advance the sector, guarantee food security, and alleviate poverty.

Syed Hussain Abidi, chairman of the PCSIR, stated that the government was paying special attention to promoting the research culture and enhancing the sector. He asked the agricultural scientists to dedicate themselves to the advancement of the agriculture industry.
Dr. Qamaruzzaman, vice chancellor of the PMAS Arid Agriculture University, stated that concerted efforts were essential to address the agricultural issues. He stated that they had been operating a combined degree program with Dalhousie University in Canada, and that such programs would assist combat the obstacles associated with knowledge transfer.
