United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called for maximum restraint from both Iran and Israel, urging an immediate halt to the ongoing military escalation that has sparked global concern. His statement follows a dramatic spike in hostilities, including Israel’s reported strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities and Iran’s retaliatory missile attacks on Tel Aviv.

Posting on social media platform X, Guterres wrote, “The time has come to stop everything. There should be no more tension after Tehran’s missile attacks on Tel Aviv. Peace and diplomacy must prevail.” His message reflects deep international anxiety over the potential for a broader regional war as tensions between the two adversaries continue to intensify.

The situation has rapidly deteriorated following Israel’s alleged targeting of sensitive Iranian infrastructure, which prompted a large-scale ballistic missile response from Tehran. The exchange marks one of the most direct confrontations between the two nations in recent memory.

Guterres emphasized the urgent need for both sides to return to diplomatic channels and refrain from actions that could trigger widespread instability. He warned that continued escalation could have “devastating consequences not only for the region but for global peace and security.”

As global powers monitor the situation closely, the UN chief’s appeal adds to mounting pressure on both Tehran and Tel Aviv to de-escalate tensions and pursue peaceful solutions through dialogue.
