In an effort to accommodate the rising demand for US visas, the US Mission to Pakistan has proposed additional initiatives.
The US Mission said in a statement that there has never been more demand for US visas. The Mission reported that it is diligently striving to reduce the wait periods for visa appointments while processing more visa applications than ever before.
It also disclosed three strategies for addressing the extraordinary demand:
First, hundreds of appointments for non-immigrant visas have been accelerated. The U.S. Consulate General in Karachi has informed more than 10,000 Pakistani visa applicants that their appointments, which were initially scheduled for 2024, have been rescheduled for 2023, some as soon as next week.

According to the announcement, if you have an accelerated appointment at the US Consulate General in Karachi in the coming months, check your email and log in to your account at our website, ustraveldocs.com/pk, to confirm your appointment time.
Second, visa applicants can reschedule appointments at either the US Embassy in Islamabad or the Consulate General in Karachi, giving Pakistani tourists more flexibility. According to the statement, we anticipate that this will provide applicants more freedom and flexibility to choose a convenient day, time, and location.
Finally, starting on September 25, those candidates who have previously been granted U.S. visas will be able to submit new applications without an interview. Without needing an appointment, applicants can check their eligibility on ustraveldocs.com/pk, print out a confirmation letter, and drop off their application documents at a drop box.
For qualifying candidates, the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad is currently accepting applications for interview waivers.
These actions show how highly the United States holds our bilateral relationship when taken as a whole.
The Mission further stated that its objective is to expeditiously and effectively facilitate legal travel to the United States.
