US Invites Pakistan to Climate Summit After Initial SNUB
Islamabad: Pakistan has been invited by the United States to the April 22–23 “Virtual Leaders’ Conference on Climate,” which will be hosted by President Joe Biden.

Nonetheless, US climate envoy John Kerry has extended the invitation to Malik Amin Aslam, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Climate Change.
During the first climate change summit his administration will host on April 22 and 23, Biden made no mention of Pakistan. The South Asian leaders of India, Bangladesh, and Bhutan are among the 40 heads of state and government that the US president has invited.
The prime minister mentioned the main environmental preservation programmes of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government, such as Green Pakistan, 10 Billion Tree Tsunami, nature-based solutions, cleaning up rivers, etc.

The meeting would bring together the world’s leading economies and other partners for an urgent critical dialogue on ways to strengthen our joint efforts to face the climate issue, according to the letter from Biden’s climate adviser dated April 17.
Kerry stated in the letter that the president has also invited the leaders of additional nations that are particularly vulnerable to climate impacts or are outlining creative routes to a net-zero economy in order to guarantee that the summit includes diverse voices.
