The United States has temporarily suspended operations at the US Consulate General Peshawar effective March 2, citing security concerns and ongoing disruptions.
According to an official advisory, the consulate in Peshawar will remain closed until further notice. All routine and emergency consular services for U.S. citizens will now be handled by the US Embassy Islamabad.
Meanwhile, the US Consulate General Karachi and the US Consulate General Lahore have canceled all U.S. visa and American Citizen Services appointments scheduled for Tuesday, March 3. The decision was made due to traffic diversions and disruptions around diplomatic premises.
The U.S. Embassy in Islamabad is expected to resume normal consular operations on March 3. However, the U.S. mission stated that movement of American government personnel across Pakistan remains restricted as a precaution.
U.S. citizens in Pakistan have been advised to stay updated through local media, avoid large gatherings, remain alert to their surroundings, and ensure their Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) registration is current.
