Villages Inclusion in Baroghil National Park Discouraged
Chitral: According to our sources, the head of the Village Conservation Committee (VCC) of Baroghil National Park, Shahzada Sikandarul Mulk, has asked the wildlife department to allay the valley residents’ concerns and reluctance to participate in decisions on park management.
In a press conference on Wednesday, he criticized the wildlife department and the ministry of climate change for not prioritizing the national park’s interests since its founding in 2010.
He criticized the management for incorporating 12 valley settlements in the national park and depriving the locals of their right to pasture their animals. The inclement weather prevents them from farming, thus, he claimed that raising animals is their only source of food.
The VCC board members Taj Ali Baig, Qadam Ali, and Akram Ali Shah also attended the news conference. The park was created eleven years ago, but the president of VCC emphasized that since then, no real measures have been taken for its development.

When making important decisions and carrying them out in the management of the national park, he urged management to consider the local people.
He also emphasized that the valley of Baroghil is home to glaciers, 36 bio-active lakes, and hilltop pastures supporting various wild bird and animal species.
