Voting for a Punjab Assembly Senate seat that is up for grabs is currently taking place and will run from 9 AM to 4 PM. With Professor Sajid Mir’s passing, the position fell vacant.
Mehar Abdul Sattar, the candidate supported by opposition parties, is running against Hafiz Abdul Karim of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
Chief Whip Rana Arshad has been designated as the PML-N’s polling agent, and Rana Shehbaz is the opposition’s polling agent.
The opposition group has 108 members in the assembly, compared to 261 seats held by the PML-N and its allies.
In the Punjab Assembly Senate Election, Raja Sagheer Ahmed, a member of the Treasury, cast the first ballot.
Treasury members Pir Ashraf Rasool and Rana Muhammad Arshad have also voted in the Punjab Assembly’s ongoing Senate election.
Ali Imtiaz Warraich, Ashifa Riaz Fatyana, and Rana Shehbaz have all used their voting privileges on the opposition side.
The presiding officer for the Senate election is Punjab Election Commissioner Sharifullah.
