PMD Warns of Heatwave in South, Rain and Winds in North

Pakistan’s weather is splitting in two this week — while Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) prepare for rain and gusty winds, Sindh and Balochistan will continue to sizzle under intense heat and dry conditions, according to a fresh forecast from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

The PMD revealed that parts of KP and Punjab may see scattered rain, windstorms, and cooler evenings, bringing relief from the ongoing heatwave in central Pakistan.

Where Rain is Expected:

  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Upper districts like Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, and Battagram are likely to receive rain. Peshawar, Swabi, Mansehra, and Abbottabad may also see brief showers.
  • Punjab: Cities like Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Jhelum, and Chakwal could experience light rain and strong winds. Showers are expected in Lahore, Gujrat, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Narowal, and Bhakkar.

Where It Stays Hot and Dry:

  • Sindh: Extremely hot weather will grip upper and central parts including Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, and Larkana. Dusty winds are expected in the afternoons.
  • Balochistan: Most areas will stay dry and hot with no immediate relief in sight.

The PMD has urged the public, farmers, and travelers to stay alert, especially in areas facing strong winds and dust storms. Residents are advised to keep hydrated and avoid outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours.
