In December 2023, a Senate committee revealed that UAE authorities had implemented mandatory police verification for all Pakistani travelers due to concerns over rising instances of illegal activities and street begging.

This increased scrutiny led to widespread visa rejections and a near-suspension of visitor visa approvals for Pakistani citizens, sparking concern among families and businesses dependent on frequent travel to the UAE.
