Social media influencer and former model Babra, also known as Bebo Baloch, was arrested by Karachi police in the affluent Defence district on suspicion of distributing cocaine and crystal meth (ice) as part of a massive crackdown on drug trafficking.
Darakhshan Police made the arrest during an intelligence-based operation in Defence Phase 5 close to 26th Street, Khayaban-e-Badar. The police said that the guy was found in possession of ice, a highly addictive drug.
Babra, who became well-known as a model and TikToker, is on the Special Branch’s B-Category monitoring list and has a criminal history. Darakhshan and Sahil police stations have caught him twice in theft cases.
Drugs are supplied over social media.
Babra admitted after the first round of questioning that she supplied drugs over social media, mainly to wealthy young people in DHA and other exclusive Karachi neighborhoods. She disclosed that although she started modeling in 2007, she relocated to an apartment in the Khayaban-e-Muslim Commercial district and started producing content for the internet in 2017 due to family matters and her mother’s second marriage.
The suspect revealed that she was exposed to drugs while attending high-profile parties in upscale neighborhoods, which caused her to become addicted to cocaine and ice and ultimately pull her into the drug trade.
More arrests are likely after identifying accomplices.
According to police, while being questioned, Babra reportedly named a number of collaborators. To find the remaining members of the drug network, a manhunt is currently in progress.
Law enforcement officials believe the organization sold and delivered drugs by using a well-organized social media network.
Under the Anti-Narcotics Act, a case has been filed, and an investigation is still underway.
