Senior Pakistani actress Seemi Raheel has spoken out against local award shows, calling them fake and lacking credibility. In an interview with a private news channel, she shared her concerns about how award ceremonies are being run in the country.
Raheel said that these events are not true award shows but simple public gatherings, held sometimes in Pakistan and sometimes abroad. She added that almost every channel has created its own awards, and most of them are based on favouritism rather than genuine talent or merit.
The actress also raised doubts about the voting system used by these shows. She questioned whether the results can be trusted, especially when transparency is not guaranteed even in national elections. Raheel said it is unrealistic to believe that public voting alone decides the winners.
Her comments have once again sparked debate about the credibility and fairness of entertainment awards in Pakistan.
