As the province continues to struggle with extreme smog, which previously compelled the closure of educational institutions, this declaration was made. Hazardous air pollution, especially in Lahore, one of the world’s most polluted cities, forced schools to temporarily switch to online instruction.
The hazardous smog created by industrial pollutants, crop burning, and vehicle pollution has raised health concerns, particularly among youngsters and the elderly. Many parents and educators are still worried about the long-term effects of the smog on pupils’ health, even after schools have reopened.
The air quality in Lahore is still dangerously high, and visibility is still poor. Residents have been urged by authorities to limit their outside activities and wear masks as preventative measures.
Students will be given a break from the stresses of the academic timetable and the environmental catastrophe during the winter break. But it also shows how urgently one of the most populated regions in the nation needs sustainable ways to fight pollution.
