A 39-year-old woman was arrested on Friday evening after stabbing at least 17 people at Hamburg’s main train station in Germany. Four people were seriously injured and taken to the hospital.
The attack happened during the busy evening rush hour, causing panic at the central station. Police arrived quickly and arrested the woman without any trouble.
Police say there is no sign that the attack was political. Instead, they are looking into whether the woman may have had mental health issues.

Officials confirmed she acted alone and targeted random passengers, not any specific group. Several parts of the station were closed so emergency teams could work safely.
Germany’s national railway company, Deutsche Bahn, called the incident “deeply shocking.” Chancellor Friedrich Merz also expressed his sadness and concern after speaking with Hamburg’s mayor.
This comes after another stabbing just days earlier at a bar in Bielefeld, where four people were hurt. That case is also being investigated.
Hamburg police are continuing their investigation to understand the reasons behind the attack.
