In the meantime, Australia maintained a perfect 100% points percentage (PCT) and solidified their status as early favourites to advance to the final for a third consecutive cycle by defeating the West Indies by 133 runs to win their second match against the hosts and to complete the three-match series with one game remaining.

Australia has already taken the maximum 24 points available and has a huge lead at the top thanks to their unrelenting start. The West Indies, who are winless at the bottom of the table, have been unable to match their onslaught, which is spearheaded by Cummins, Hazlewood, and Lyon.

With a victory and a draw in their first series, Sri Lanka is still in second place.

While South Africa, Pakistan, and New Zealand, who are playing Zimbabwe in a Test series that is not part of this cycle, have not yet started their campaigns, Bangladesh has managed to avoid the bottom spot thanks to their lone draw against Sri Lanka.

Several of these sides will start their World Test Championship campaigns in the upcoming months; Pakistan will play the Proteas in October.

Australia’s dominant early form has set a high standard for the pursuing pack as the 2027 race to Lord’s begins to take shape.
