World’s Highest Railway Bridge to be Launched Soon
The Indian-Held-Occupied Kashmir will soon launch the world’s tallest bridge that links the villages of Kauri and Bakkal. It will ultimately provide all-weather connectivity in the previously affected region due to different weather factors.
The construction of this arch bridge is indeed an engineering marvel. The bridge, costing $168 million, is an engineering feat, utilizing 28,000 tons of steel to withstand seismic activity in the highly seismic-prone area.

The construction is part of the Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link Project (USBRL), a 73-mile project with 38 tunnels and 931 bridges. The bridge’s construction will provide all-weather connectivity, as seasonal closures previously affected the region.
The project has strategic, defense, and economic aspects and aims to connect Kashmir with the Indian mainland, helping economically marginalized villages.
The Union State Minister of Railways and Union State Minister of Textiles, Darshana Jardosh, visited the site and praised the team for achieving such a monumental milestone with perfection, acknowledging the unique strengthening technology used to withstand seismic activity.
