The government of Punjab has made the decision to expedite the application process for tourism guides. The Punjab Tourism Department intends to offer 10,000 people free training through a four-week online tour guide program in order to improve skills and open up prospects in the tourism business.
Speaking on the project, Raja Jahangir Anwar, the Secretary of Tourism Punjab, emphasized the value of having qualified tour guides, particularly given the province’s 400+ tourist attractions.
He went on to say that only knowledgeable and experienced tour guides can accurately bring these locations’ cultural and historical significance to light.

The government-run Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (ITHM) would provide the tour guide course at a very reasonable cost, according to the Secretary of Tourism Punjab.
The first round of participants can register for free, with the ultimate goal of training 10,000 people.
Eligibility Criteria
Raja Jahangir Anwar states that anyone in Punjab who meets the basic requirement of an intermediate degree is qualified to apply for the course. Moreover, anyone can sign up for the program at any age.
Women and minorities will be given priority during the admissions process. According to the Secretary of Tourism, thirty percent of the course will be held at the ITHM Lahore location, and the other seventy percent will be done online.
Those who successfully finish the course will receive permits from the Department of Tourist Services, which is part of the Tourism Department.
