YouTube offering secret $60 credits — find out if you qualify

YouTube TV has started offering bill credits to some subscribers following its recent dispute with Disney that caused more than 20 channels to temporarily disappear from the service. However, the compensation rollout has been inconsistent, leaving many users unsure whether they qualify.

The outage, which happened last week, removed major Disney-owned networks from YouTube TV, including ABC, FX, National Geographic, Disney Channel, and multiple ESPN channels. The sudden loss of live programming and sports coverage led to strong frustration among subscribers.

To address the disruption, YouTube TV is issuing credits of $10 per month for up to six months. This totals a possible $60 in savings. But the credit does not automatically appear for every subscriber. Instead, some users have discovered that the discount must be manually activated.

Reports shared on Reddit suggest that only select accounts are currently seeing the credit. To check, users are advised to:

Log in on desktop, go to Settings, Membership, Manage Plan
If eligible, a $10 monthly credit option will appear and can be applied to future bills.

Users have also questioned why the credit amount is limited to $10 when Google previously suggested that compensation could increase to $20 if Disney channels remained unavailable for longer. So far, YouTube TV has not confirmed whether additional compensation will follow.

The conflict between Google-owned YouTube TV and Disney was linked to pricing negotiations. YouTube TV said Disney was asking for higher fees that would have resulted in increased subscription prices for customers. Disney, on the other hand, argued that it invests heavily in content and expects fair payment from streaming partners.

Although the companies eventually reached an agreement and restored the channels, the compensation rollout has left many subscribers dissatisfied due to a lack of clarity.

For now, YouTube TV users are encouraged to manually check their accounts to see if the credit can be claimed.
