Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) has announced a 25 percent reduction in fuel consumption across its operations as part of emergency conservation measures amid the ongoing regional energy crisis.

In a statement issued on Monday, the bank said fuel usage has been reduced by 25 percent in litres nationwide, including at its head office, with immediate effect. Controlling officers across the institution have been directed to ensure strict fuel conservation while maintaining operational efficiency.

The management said the initiative is intended to support national efforts to manage fuel supplies during a period of heightened economic and energy pressures linked to regional instability.

ZTBL noted that collective adjustments in daily routines can lead to significant fuel savings and help reduce pressure on national energy resources.

According to the bank, employees particularly field staff have been advised to plan fuel-efficient routes and adopt trip-pooling instead of making individual visits in order to minimize fuel consumption.

Staff members have also been instructed to avoid unnecessary physical travel and instead rely on digital communication tools such as video conferencing and phone calls whenever possible.

Addressing the bank’s executive assembly, Tahir Yaqoob Bhatti emphasized the need for proactive action during the current crisis.

“Extraordinary situations require extraordinary measures. I am confident we can save substantial fuel without compromising our day-to-day activities and performance, in the broader national interest,” he said.
