10th JCC of CPEC to Meet Next Week
Islamabad: According to news reports, the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Nong Rong confirmed that the tenth meeting of the Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will be held on July 13, 2021.
The last three JCC meetings, which have been held annually since 2017, resulted in no new project approvals. These discussions focused mostly on the completion and expansion of ongoing and existing projects, particularly the expansion of special economic zones.
In addition, the ambassador stated that the active initiatives are geared towards assisting Pakistan with its economic transformation and ushering in a new era of urbanisation, digitization, and industrialization.

In a separate development, CPEC Authority Chairman retired Lt. Gen. Asim Saleem Bajwa invited Singaporean firms to establish themselves in special economic zones (SEZs) in Gawadar and capitalise on Pakistan’s commercial potential.
Singapore can benefit from and contribute to the growth of the industrial and science and technology sectors, according to the chairman, who also cited the large workforce and low-cost labour force as the major drivers and attractions for investors.
