1,200 Water Supply Schemes Solarized in KP
Peshawar: As part of the solarized initiative, the provincial public health and engineering department has solarized 1,200 water supply schemes around the province, with work continuing on an additional 250 schemes.

An official statement noted that Chief Minister Mahmood Khan presided over a meeting where the department’s performance was discussed. A total of 154 development plans were being carried out across the province, it was revealed to the gathering.
According to the statement, master plans for developed areas had already been created, whereas work on master plans for tribal territories was still ongoing.
Also, the equipment needed to implement the geographic information system (GIS) in the department has been purchased, and hiring of the necessary people is in place.

The department is now being reorganized to increase its productivity. Another 53 officers and other supporting personnel have been hired as part of the reorganization process and posted to districts and tehsils all around the province.
The legal framework and departmental policies are being modified in accordance with contemporary demands, it was announced during the meeting.
Since the Drinking Water Supply Scheme Act, 1985 is being amended, the Provincial Drinking Water Policy is being updated.
