2374 New Companies Registered by SECP in December 2022
ISLAMABAD, January 20, 2023- Security and Exchnge Commission of Pakistan has registered 2374 new companies in December 2022.
The total number of registered firms is currently 183,744, and their total capitalization (paid-up capital) for the current month is Rs. 4.1 billion. In the final month of the year 2022, around 56% of businesses were registered as limited liability corporations, while 41% were registered as sole proprietorships. The remaining three percent consisted of public unlisted enterprises, non-profit organizations, overseas firms, and limited liability partnerships (LLP). Almost 99.8 percent of businesses had online registrations.
427 companies were registered in the real estate development & construction sector, followed by 329 in information technology, 292 in trading, 218 in services, 107 in education, 104 in tourism, 89 in food & beverages, 82 in e-commerce, 63 in corporate agricultural farming, 55 in textile, 51 in marketing & advertising, and 452 in other sectors.

Foreign investment in 85 new enterprises has been reported. The majority of investment came from China with 48 firms, followed by Germany with 5, Afghanistan, the United Kingdom, and the United States with 4 each, Iran and South Africa with 2, and 16 companies from other nations.
As a result of the integration of SECP with FBR and several provincial departments, 2,172 firms were registered with FBR for the generation of NTN, 60 firms with EOBI, 34 firms with PESSI/SESSI, and 37 firms with the department of excise and taxation.
The SECP has also established a WhatsApp service for fielding inquiries. With a 96 percent satisfaction rate, responses were issued in December 2022 to around 1,382 WhatsApp inquiries from local and foreign investors regarding name availability and incorporation.
