A major confrontation has broken out in Bari Imam, where the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has continued its anti-encroachment operation after police registered an FIR against around 250 individuals, including charges related to terrorism, following violent clashes in the area.
According to police sources, the case was registered at the Secretariat Police Station on the complaint of CDA Assistant Director Enforcement Zafar Shah. The FIR alleges that armed residents resisted the demolition drive, attacked enforcement teams, and set government vehicles on fire during the operation.
Authorities say the ongoing operation in the Noor Pur Shahan area is being carried out with heavy machinery, with several illegal structures already demolished. Following the registration of the case, police have launched raids to arrest those named in the FIR.
Residents, however, claim the demolitions began without giving them sufficient time to remove their belongings. Some also allege that personal items were taken during the operation. The CDA has rejected these claims, stating that multiple prior notices were issued and that the action is being conducted under court-approved directives.
Local residents, many of whom say they have lived in the area for years, maintain that the eviction is unjust, arguing they are being forcibly removed without adequate notice or compensation.
