Karachi: The Karachi Development Authority (KDA) has identified more than 350 shops, houses and other structures in North Karachi that are allegedly occupying KDA-owned land, with the properties collectively estimated to be worth over Rs. 8 billion.
The authority is requiring occupants of the identified properties to provide documents proving legal ownership or title. Those unable to establish a valid claim could face eviction and demolition as part of the enforcement action.
The move comes amid Karachi’s long-standing land encroachment challenges, including the illegal subdivision and sale of state or private land. KDA has previously undertaken large-scale operations to recover encroached properties across the city.
