88% Work on CPEC Hydropower Project Finished
Asim Saleem Bajwa, chairman of the CPEC Authority, said 88% of the work on the Karot Hydropower Project, a corridor umbrella project, has been completed.
Asim Bajwa said in his call to Social that 88% of his work on the 720MW Kalot Hydropower Project (CPEC No. 1 Hydropower Project) has been completed with his US$1.72 billion investment.

He plans to complete the project in April 2022. The chairman of the CPEC authority further said that the location of the project is Jhelum River (Punjab/AJK) and currently he has 5,000 local direct jobs through the project.

Private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB) is the project sponsoring agency and Karot Power Company Ltd is the project executing agency. Financial completion of the project was achieved on February 22, 2017.
Muhammad Hamad Al-Azhar was informed during a recent visit to the PPIB Energy Minister that construction work for his two large-scale hydropower IPP projects with a cumulative capacity of 1604 MW will be completed by December 2022. .

The 720 MW Karot Power Plant project is in advanced stages of construction and is expected to be completed next year.
