KARACHI – Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, Minister of State and Chairman of the Task Force on Gandhara Tourism for the Prime Minister (PM), emphasised the importance of further exploring the holy places and monuments constructed during the Gandara era on Wednesday in order to advance religious tourism in the nation.

A visit to the Buddha’s historical sites and caves in Shah Allah Ditta, D-12, was organised by the PM’s Task Force. The delegation included diplomats, members of civic society, media, and the Thai and Indonesian ambassadors.

The chairman informed the audience that there were indications of the Hindu and Buddhist religions in the federal capital. In order to draw foreign visitors to Pakistan and make money from religious tourism, he emphasised the importance of exploring these locations.

He believed that Pakistan was home to a large number of historic landmarks, monuments, and structures that serve as examples of the region’s rich history. As Gandhara art is a large and significant draw for Buddhists, Pakistan’s rich Gandhara history has become an iconic phenomena worldwide.
