ADB Projects Pakistan’s Growth at 4% in 2022
Islamabad: As commercial activity progressively picks up after the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) epidemic, Pakistan’s economic development is anticipated to bounce back this year before picking up speed in 2022, according to a report from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

According to the Asian Development Outlook (ADO) 2021, ADB’s annual flagship economic publication, Pakistan’s GDP would increase by 2 percent in 2021 as Covid-19 limitations ease.
Growth is anticipated to climb to 4% in 2022 with stronger consumer and investor confidence, supposing the Covid-19 vaccination deployment is successful and economic stabilization measures are put in place.

Industry growth for FY2021 seems to be strong, driven by manufacturing and construction. The recovery of services is anticipated as commerce and retail expand.
Because to heavy rains, pest infestations, and ongoing contractions in cultivated areas of land, the cotton crop was drastically lower than expected, which would contribute to slower growth in agriculture.
In FY2021, inflation is predicted to decline to 8.7%, in part due to anticipated improvements in the food supply, subsidies for sugar and wheat, and more careful price monitoring of key commodities.
