The sit-in led by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi has ended after continuing since Thursday. Afridi had been stationed at the Factory checkpost, demanding a meeting with PTI founder Imran Khan.

After ending his protest, Afridi went directly to the Islamabad High Court to raise the issue before the chief justice. Speaking to the media, he said that despite a clear court order, he was still not being allowed to meet Imran Khan. He stated that he would formally inform the chief justice that the order was not being followed.

Before the sit-in concluded, multiple rounds of talks took place between KP government officials and the Adiala Jail administration in a nearby private building. The meeting included the assistant superintendent of prisons, the chief minister’s chief security officer, police representatives, and KP Minister Meena Khan Afridi. PTI leaders demanded that CM Afridi and another senior party member be allowed to meet the PTI founder.

Sources said the KP delegation also requested a written explanation for the denial, clarity regarding Imran Khan’s health, and official approval for the meeting. Afridi told reporters that all required procedures had been completed but access was still being blocked. He remarked that the situation was unprecedented, saying, “The world has seen what is happening with the chief minister of a province.” His team has now asked the authorities to provide written justification for their refusal.

Throughout the night, discussions between the KP delegation and the jail administration continued, drawing significant national attention. The issue created tension between the provincial leadership and the prison officials, especially regarding whether the court’s directives were being properly implemented.

On Thursday, Afridi arrived near Adiala Jail but was stopped by police. In response, he began a sit-in at the Factory checkpost, where he was joined by MNA Shahid Khattak, MPA Meena Khan Afridi, and other PTI leaders. Security along Adiala Road was tightened, with extra police deployed at Dahgal and Gorakhpur checkpoints.

Afridi also expressed concern over reports about Imran Khan’s health, saying that the party simply wanted to verify his condition and reassure the public. He warned that rising concern could lead to unrest, adding, “We are here. If we are denied the meeting, we will consider our next steps.”
