Lufthansa Intends to Resume Flying Operations in Pakistan
According to an ambassador, Lufthansa will resume weekly passenger flights to Pakistan after a 13-year break.
According to German Ambassador to Pakistan Bernhard Stephan Schlagheck, a delegation of German businessmen will study investment opportunities in Pakistan the next week.
The corporate delegation will reportedly go to Karachi and Islamabad, where they will meet with private sector investors and high-ranking government officials.
According to Secretary Mazhar, the forthcoming visit of a German group to Pakistan is a very optimistic sign for the country’s economy.
Lufthansa, a member of the Star Alliance Network based in Germany, resumed operations in Pakistan in 2007 after halting flights there in 1998. The German flag carrier announced in October 2008 that it would suspend flights to Karachi and Lahore for unspecified business reasons.
