Applicants in Vehari under Punjab’s Apni Chhat Apna Ghar scheme say they have been waiting for months to receive the first instalment of their approved housing loans.
Several beneficiaries said they applied online for loans of up to Rs1.5 million to construct their homes. Their applications were reportedly approved and later forwarded to Akhuwat, NRSP and other organisations for further processing.
Verification and Loan Formalities Completed
According to the applicants, representatives of the organisations visited their plots for verification. They also provided the required documentation and two guarantee cheques worth Rs1.5 million each, while their plots were pledged as part of the financing process.
Bank accounts were subsequently opened at the Bank of Punjab’s Vehari branch, but applicants claim their first instalments have still not been released.
Beneficiaries Seek Government Intervention
The affected applicants said cases approved between January and June 30, 2026, were still awaiting their initial payments. They have appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to intervene and speed up the release of the approved funds.
Representatives of Akhuwat and NRSP reportedly said that verification, plot pledging and other loan formalities had been completed. According to them, payments can be released once the Punjab government transfers the approved funds into the beneficiaries’ accounts.
