Babar Azam has secured a place in the World Test Championship (WTC) record books after scoring a crucial half-century against Bangladesh in the second Test in Sylhet, further strengthening Pakistan’s position in the match.
The Pakistan captain played a composed innings to reach his 20th half-century in WTC matches, a milestone that places him among the competition’s most consistent batters.
With this achievement, Babar Azam has moved into joint-third position on the all-time list of most WTC fifties. He now shares the spot with Australia’s Steve Smith and England’s Zak Crawley.
Only two players remain ahead of him in the rankings: England’s Joe Root with 22 fifties, and Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne who leads the chart with 24.
