Balochistan Government Constructs 2647 km Roads

During its tenure, the Balochistan government has constructed around 2,647 kilometres of asphalt roads in the province in an effort to provide the greatest infrastructure amenities and market accessibility.

The provincial government has begun 550 new road construction projects. During the fiscal year 2021-22, Rs 20 billion have been allotted for the com­ple­tion of these projects, which aim to deliver the finest communi­ca­tion facil­i­ties to the populace.

To gain access to the main route, the government has constructed a road from Turbat to Pasni at a cost of Rs 1 billion, a government official of Balochistan told APP on Friday. The construction of roads from Zhob to Manzakai, at a cost of Rs 3,290 million, Murgah Faqirzai to Badini, at a cost of Rs 1,590 million, and Zhob to Miralikhail, at a cost of Rs 2,957 million, had also been completed for the benefit of the residents of bordering regions.

This would significantly increase economic and commercial activity in the region. The road from Sansila to Dera Bugti, which cost Rs 1 billion, is the latest project to be finished. While blacktop road from Notal to Ghandhawa was com­pleted at a cost of Rs 2,158 million and up gradation of Sohbatpur to Kashmore road was completed at a cost of Rs 1,487 million, this would not only pave the way for socioeconomic uplift of far-flung areas of Balochistan, but would also have positive effects on the economy of the entire region, he added.

An official stated that the provincial administration planned to develop an additional 4,000 kilometres of roads to boost the province’s communication system. The official stated that the development of motorways would provide access to key markets for agricultural and mineral products in the area.

Further, he stated that better roads are necessary to reduce traffic accidents and preserve lives. The dualization of the 796-kilometer Chaman-Quetta-Ka­rachi Highway would begin this year. Due to the efforts of the Balochistan administration, the federal government has allotted Rs 81.582 billion in the first phase of the financial year 2021-22 for the building of the Kuchlak to Khuzdar portion of the Quetta-Karachi highway.
