The Pakistan Airport Authority (PAA) is planning to construct a major high-rise development in Islamabad that could potentially become one of the tallest buildings in the federal capital, according to documents submitted to the Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (Pak-EPA).
The project is proposed on a 9,000-square-yard plot in Blue Area, Islamabad’s main commercial district.
Multi-Storey Aviation and Office Complex Planned
According to the details shared with Pak-EPA, the proposed development will be a multi-storey aviation and office complex designed as a landmark structure in the city.
The building is expected to house a range of facilities, including:
- PAA corporate offices
- Airline headquarters
- Conference and business centers
- Banks and commercial spaces
- Recreational and fitness facilities
- Aviation museum and art gallery
- Daycare center
- Food courts
- Hotel accommodation
The project is being positioned as a mixed-use development combining aviation, business, and public amenities.
Public Consultation Process Underway
Pak-EPA has issued a public notice inviting feedback from citizens and stakeholders.
A public hearing on the project is scheduled for May 18 at Crown Hotel Islamabad, where concerns and suggestions from the public will be reviewed.
CDA Confirms Building Plan Approval
Officials from the Capital Development Authority (CDA) have confirmed that the building plan for the project has already been approved.
However, they clarified that it is too early to confirm whether the structure will officially become the tallest building in Islamabad.
Islamabad’s Existing High-Rise Landscape
Islamabad currently has several notable high-rise buildings, including:
- The Centaurus (around 29 floors, approximately 335 feet)
- The under-construction Garden Residential Apartments in F-10 Markaz, expected to reach around 42 floors and 470 feet
- One Constitution Avenue, another prominent commercial high-rise
If completed as planned, the new PAA development could become a significant addition to Islamabad’s evolving skyline and commercial infrastructure.
