Budget 2021-22: South Punjab Gets ‘Record High’ Allocations

Lahore: According to news reports, the Punjab government has announced a “record high” budget allocation of PKR 189.228 billion for the 37 development projects in South Punjab for the fiscal year 2021–22.

The Punjabi government has set aside a sizable budget for uplift initiatives like building projects and infrastructure development programmes. The following are some specifics on budget spending:

Special programmes have been allotted PKR 35.702 billion.
Projects for specialised healthcare and medical education have received PKR 28.304 billion in funding.
PKR 22.52 billion will be used to build new highways.
PKR 15.362 billion has been been aside for educational costs.
The budgeted amount for the planning and development is PKR 14.083 billion.
A budget of PKR 11.086 billion has been set out for the agriculture industry.
Getting a higher education will 4.866 billion PKR
PKR 7.361 billion for the programme for community and local government development
PKR 7.901 billion will be spent on the irrigation project.
3.967 billion Pakistani rupees for the urban development programme
For the development of the forest, PKR 1.127 billion
For the provision of water and sanitation services, PKR 4.886 billion
A budget of PKR 1.015 billion has been been available for basic education and literacy.
The sports and youth affairs sector has been given PKR 1.806 billion.
Getting both primary and secondary healthcare 5.886 billion PKR
The population welfare has been allotted PKR 664 billion.
For the specialised education sector, PKR 157 million
$349 million will be used for social welfare.
For the sector of women’s development, PKR 49 million
PKR 213 million will go to wildlife.
Programs connected to fishing would receive PKR 274 million.
The food industry would receive PKR 236 million.

In this regard, the budget for South Punjab has been set apart from the rest of the province, according to P&D Chairman Abdullah Sumbal, in order to address local issues.
