Builders, Dwellers in A Fix Over Ban on Housing Societies in KP
Peshawar: Due to the government’s prohibition on all types of developmental activities and mutation because they did not obtain no-objection certificates from the Peshawar Development Authority, a complex situation has developed for thousands of residents of 181 private housing societies and their builders (PDA).

In the provincial capital recently, 181 private housing societies were first prohibited by the district administration for operating against the rules set forth by the PDA, and then FIRs were filed against them.
Before launching a housing society plan, some PDA officials informed the concerned officials that private housing societies were required to obtain NOC under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Local Government (Sites Development Schemes) Rules, 2005.
181 private housing societies are prohibited, and 123 are in Shah Alamtehsil, 25 are in Citytehsil, 24 are in Saddar tehsil, and 9 are in Mattani tehsil.
Residents of the prohibited housing societies explained why the decision-makers remained silent when the schemes were introduced without the appropriate NOCs. They claimed that the delivery of gas and electricity by Sui Northern Gas Pipelines and Pesco, respectively, raised concerns.
Due to the daily influx of residents and builders contacting PDA, the local government department and PDA have been collaborating to find a solution.
