Buzdar Gives Go-Ahead to Dam Project in DG Khan
Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdal has approved the construction of a small dam project at Surah near Sanggar in Dera Ghazi Khan.

CM chaired his meeting at high level via video link at CM office where Rajanpur and he agreed to review the progress of the project to build a dam to retain water from the DG Khan mountain stream Did. The prime minister has instructed relevant authorities to include the project in next year’s Annual Development Plan (ADP).
Water from the DG Khan and Rajanpur hill torrents is retained and used for agricultural and irrigation purposes. Building a dam in Surah will ensure that the Taungsa people will have sufficient water supply while the agricultural sector will develop.

Buzdar said he will start the Surra Dam as his project piloted by the Punjab government. The construction of the dam will also provide water to the crops. He said rainwater flows into the sewers every year. It is very important to use this water after storage. Construction of the dam will also boost tourism in the area.

Usman Buzdar was briefed on technical issues and progress on the feasibility study of the dam. NESPAK CM Director, Irrigation and P&D Director, Finance Secretary, MD, GM and Chief Engineer attended the meeting
