Cabinet Approves Pakistan’s First Cloud Policy
The federal cabinet of Pakistan passed the Cloud First Policy and Personal Data Protection Bill in Islamabad.

According to the news, Federal Minister of Information Technology Syed Mr. Amin-ul-Haque claimed that programmers will save the government money on massive data centres. Additionally, the enhanced transparency and service efficiency will be diminished. Under the Cloud First Policy, the government divided data into five categories based on its sensitivity and required level of protection.

Open data pertaining to government transparency and works in the public domain are included among the five kinds of data. The second is data of public interest that is accessible to the public and does not require authorization. The third category, restricted data, consists of non-sensitive information relating to public sector business, operations, and services. The fourth category of data is confidential information, which is not intended to be made public but can be accessed with the proper authority. The fifth category includes classified information and information vital to the national interest, financial security, or public order.
