CCI Includes Hydel Power in Renewable Energy Targets
Islamabad: The Council of Common Interests (CCI) decided to include hydropower in the renewable energy goals and asked the Power Division to draft the “wheeling” policy so it could be implemented immediately.

Prime Minister Imran Khan, who presided over the 48th meeting of the CCI, instructed the Power Division to implement technology-based solutions at the distribution firm level to spare paying consumers the inconvenience of load-management in low recovery grids.
The CCI was informed that the Power Division had held a number of consultations with each province and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The IGCEP is an annual plan created by the National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) that provides indicative demand and supply projections for electricity for the next ten years based on overall requirements.

The IGCEP assumptions as recommended by the federal cabinet on August 31 were unanimously agreed by the CCI. The CCI also resolved to include hydroelectric power in its renewable energy goals and asked the Power Division to draft its “wheeling” strategy so it could be implemented immediately.
