ISLAMABAD: The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) has opened an inquiry into Eighteen, a luxury residential development, following concerns over how the project’s location and association with Islamabad have been presented in its marketing.
The inquiry will examine whether promotional material used by the project could potentially mislead consumers about its geographical location or create an inaccurate impression of its connection with Islamabad.

According to the information available, the CCP is assessing the project’s marketing practices under the country’s competition and consumer-protection framework. The purpose of the inquiry is to determine whether the claims made in promotional campaigns comply with applicable legal requirements.
The development highlights the importance of clear and accurate location information in real estate advertising, where proximity to major cities can influence buyers’ decisions and property valuations.
The inquiry does not, by itself, establish that any violation has occurred. Further findings will depend on the evidence reviewed by the CCP and the outcome of its investigation.
For prospective property buyers, the case also underlines the importance of independently checking a project’s exact location, legal status, approvals, access routes and other relevant documentation before making an investment decision.
