CDA Conducts Public Hearing on Plant Elimination and Restoration
ISLAMABAD: On Monday, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) convened a public hearing to discuss ecosystem restoration, invasive plant removal, and the eradication of wild mulberry.
A number of authorities, including the Member Environment, DG Environment, DG Inspection, Director Regional, and other CDA executives, attended the event, which was organized by the CDA Environment Wing and held at the Gandhara Citizen Club in F-9 Park, Islamabad.

Sources claim that people from both private and public institutions as well as citizens from various backgrounds participated in the public hearing.
Furthermore, noteworthy attendees included Dr. Parvez, an environmentalist, Muhammad Munir, the director of the NIH’s allergy centre in Islamabad, Waqar Zakaria, a member of the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board, and Nighat, the director.
Participants at the hearing talked about the invasive plant species that are present in various parts of Islamabad.

Dr. Parvez emphasised the rapid groundwater level fall brought on by the overabundance of paper mulberry trees.
Nighat also highlighted the allergies and medical issues brought on by poisonous plants, highlighting the significance of keeping a balanced ecosystem.
The environmental specialists also discussed the biological interactions between plants, animals, and people, emphasizing the dangers that invasive species of plants like parthenium, lantana, and paper mulberry bring to both the environment and the economy.

Participants highlighted that invasive plants are to blame for a number of problems, such as the extinction of other species, damage to streams and facilities, harm to wildlife, the spread of airborne infections to people, and other negative consequences on human existence.
Citizens who attended the session were also given the opportunity to voice their opinions.
The gathering emphasized the importance and advantages of increasing green spaces, growing new trees, and taking action against environmental pollution.
