CDA Devised Islamabad’s Most Important Development Initiatives
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) intended to launch significant development projects in Islamabad during the upcoming fiscal year (FY 2023–24), according to a June 6 story in the top newspaper.
According to the agency’s plans, the CDA has allotted PKR 20 billion for the construction of numerous new underpasses and flyovers in Islamabad. These projects consist of extending Lahtrar Road, Park Road, and Murree Road, as well as building 11th Avenue, the Serena Chowk Underpass, and the Shaheen Chowk Overpass.
The news source claimed that municipal managers are actively involved in ongoing development projects totaling 100 billion Pakistani rupees (PKR) all throughout the city. These projects are expected to be completed in the next two to three months, according to CDA Chairman Noorul Amin Mengal. Mengal also stressed the completion of the patchwork on the Islamabad Motorway and the connection of 11th Avenue to the Srinagar Highway and IJP Road.

Mengal announced intentions to remove traffic lights along the route from Serena Chowk to Kashmir and Murree in an effort to ease traffic congestion. In addition, Margalla Road traffic lights will be removed by the CDA. Future improvements include the building of a dual highway across Shaheen Chowk. Moreover, during the fiscal year 2023–2024, extra lanes will be built to Park Road and Lahtrar Road.
The CDA plans to upgrade Islamabad’s infrastructure and traffic management system with the allocation of significant funding and the construction of numerous new underpasses and flyovers, enabling more effective transportation and boosting connectivity.
