CDA for Getting EIA Before Shifting Landfill Site to H-16
Islamabad: Capital Development Authority (CDA) President Amer Ali Ahmed announced that the agency will conduct an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) prior to moving the temporary landfill from Site I-12 to Site H- 16, according to news sources.

Reportedly, CDA officials have said that at their next meeting, the council will discuss moving the landfill to 100 barren soil canals on a temporary basis in Area H-16 – after EIA implementation in close cooperation with Pakistan. Environmental Protection Agency (Pak-EPA).
In addition, the CDA President has stated that the site will only be moved after a suitable landfill site is available. Officials also said the relocation of the landfill was crucial before development work in the area could take place.

Prior to Eid, four sites including Site H-16 were proposed for the project, and officials now believe the site is the perfect choice for a temporary landfill. In the same vein, the CDA and the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) also agreed to jointly establish a landfill near Chakwal.
