CDA May Award 7th Avenue Interchange Contract to FWO
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) in Islamabad may award the 7th Avenue Interchange contract to Frontier Work Organization (FWO) as the bid opening deadline for four private companies expired on Friday.

A few months ago, the CDA solicited bids from construction companies for the $1.5 billion interchange project. However, the deadline of 120 days for opening bids has passed.
According to CDA’s plan, the interchange at the intersection of 7th Avenue, Srinagar Highway, Khayaban-i- Suharwardi, and Garden Avenue will be a cloverleaf with four left and right loops. According to CDA officials, a passageway will connect the two sections of Khayaban-i-Suharwardi.
After receiving input from the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA), the CDA will submit a summary to the federal government requesting permission to award the contract to the FWO.

The project was conceived in 2008 and presented to the CDA’s Development Working Party (DWP) multiple times for approval of PC-1, but each time it was met with opposition. In contrast, the PC-1 was approved at a DWP meeting in October of last year.
In the absence of an interchange, however, motorists face traffic congestion caused by lengthy traffic signals, especially during rush hour.
