CDA Planned Major Development Projects for Islamabad
Islamabad: According to news reported in the top newspaper on June 6, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has planned to start major development projects in Islamabad for the upcoming fiscal year (FY 2023–24).
According to the specifics, the CDA has allocated PKR 20 billion for a number of new underpasses and flyovers in Islamabad. These initiatives consist of widening Lahtrar Road, Park Road, and Murree Road in addition to building Serena Chowk Underpass, Shaheen Chowk Overpass, and 11th Avenue.
According to the news source, city managers are actively involved in ongoing construction projects totaling PKR 100 billion throughout the city. According to CDA Chairman Noorul Amin Mengal, these projects should be finished in the next two to three months. Mengal further emphasized that 11th Avenue will be connected to the Srinagar Highway and IJP Road, and that the Islamabad Motorway patchwork will soon be finished.

Mengal disclosed intentions to signal-free the stretch of road from Serena Chowk to Kashmir and Murree in an effort to reduce traffic congestion. The CDA also wants to eliminate traffic signals on Margalla Road. The building of a dual highway across Shaheen Chowk is one of the projects that will soon be undertaken. Furthermore, the expansion of Park Road and Lahtrar Road with additional lanes will also be undertaken during FY 2023-24.
The CDA intends to upgrade the city’s infrastructure and traffic management system with the deployment of significant funding and the construction of numerous new underpasses and flyovers in Islamabad, resulting in more efficient transportation and enhanced connectivity throughout the city.
