CDA Plans to Procure Machinery for Garbage Collection
Islamabad: The sanitation directorate of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has stated that rather than renting equipment for cleanliness and waste collection, it will purchase new equipment.

According to CDA officials, millions of rupees would be spent on rubbish collection and disposal equipment.
The CDA was reportedly planning to rent machinery for one year at a cost of approximately Rs 500 million, which was greater than the previous year’s contract estimate.
Under the condition of anonymity, a second official stated that it was necessary to investigate the rate predicted by the municipal body for the temporary contract to rent machinery, as it was significantly more than the prior contract.

Earlier, in February of this year, the CDA board terminated the garbage collection contract after deeming it “defective” and fraudulently granted.
On the basis of the board’s resolution, CDA has now chosen to purchase its own apparatus and equipment and to directly employ sanitation workers for cities and metropolitan regions.
